Frequently Asked Questions

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours FAQ

How long is the trip?
The trip is about an hour and we go 18 miles round trip. Trips departing from Niagara-on-the-Lake are 60 minutes (round trip) while tours departing from Niagara Falls ON and Lewiston NY are 45 minutes (round trip). This time difference is because of the proximity to the Niagara Gorge from Lewiston, NY)

Where does the boat go?
From our departure point, we travel upriver, through the Niagara Gorge and into the Whirlpool. (Oh yeah, and back).

Has the boat ever gone over the Falls?
No - we are downriver from the Falls.

How many people does the boat hold?
We have 8 boats in our fleet. The Jet Dome holds 40 passengers. Five of our Wet Jet boats hold 48 passengers each and two hold 54 passengers.

Can you see the Falls from the boat?
No, you see what happens when the water goes over the brink, and through the river canyon, which is some of the most beautiful scenery in Niagara.

How old do you have to be to ride on the boat?
Wet Jet - At least six years old and 44" tall.
Jet Dome - At least four years old and 40" tall. Under 16 you must have a parent or guardian with you.

Absolutely! We have lots of people over 65 - in fact entire busloads of seniors have jetboated. Our record holder is 92 years old.

Do you get wet?
Not just wet! Soaked!
We recommend you bring a complete change of clothes.
Change rooms are available on site to use afterwards.

Can anybody jetboat?
Just about, but we suggest you be in good health. You should not be pregnant or subject to heart, back or neck problems.

Can you fall out of the boat?
While falling out is clearly not a norm, it is important to remember there is an element of risk dealing with any water activity. Whitewater rescue is part of our Captain and crew training in order to respond quickly and efficiently to any situation.

How fast does the boat go?
The boat can go up to 65 mph. Really Fast!

We are really good swimmers, do we still have to wear a lifejacket?
Yes - everyone on the water should wear a lifejacket - all of our staff do, and so do all of our guests.

  • WOW! Unbelievable! Never thought you could get that WET!! Just returned from holidaying in Niagara for Civic holiday weekend. This is a must do. We have already planned to return for a 'controlled drowning' as our guide Adrian put it. If planning to go, book this attraction & get yourself the first four rows of the boat. Thanks for the shower.
