Abacot Hall is located in a section of the Historic Old Town which
was once known officially, in the nineteenth century, as the "Colored
Village". Our property was a goat farm, operated by emancipated slaves, in
the early 1800s The Negro burial ground is located half a block away and
one of the original houses still exists one block away. There has been a
house on the property since the late 1700s. The present house was built 50
years ago in a classic Georgian style.
